Why

AI is here. Now what?

Artificial Intelligence

What an eye-opening experience I had last week listening to the future possibilities of AI (Artificial Intelligence) from a pioneer in the space – Taryn Southern. The guest speaker is a digital revolution expert, known for her work at the intersection of emerging technology and human potential. It was Taryn’s first-time visiting Philadelphia, and my first time hearing her live. She created a digital hostess to introduce her to the stage. Taryn started as a pioneering YouTuber, who uploaded her first viral video to YouTube in 2007. More than ten years and 750 million views later, Taryn had written, produced, or starred in more than 1,500 pieces of digital content. Taryn has designed dozens of media initiatives to help companies spark consumer conversation, inspire investment interest, and shift public perception. From biotech to blockchain, she’s advised and/or invested in companies of emerging tech. She is now tackling and immersing herself in AI and shared her experiences. She challenged us to think. She suggested five things to do:

  1. 1. Set aside 1 to 2 hours weekly to experiment with, have fun, play and learn AI.
  2. 2. Pick 2-3 AI apps, download them and start trying them out. She suggested the following three to start.
    • ChatGPT$ (paid) for editing.
    • Mind Journey for images.
    • Runway, Descript or Wonder Dynamics for video.
  3. 3. Create a piece of Content. Write a blog, or a story. Maybe a video? Something!
  4. 4. Write the correct Prompts to direct AI with…
    • Clarity
    • great Questions
    • Perspective
    • Concept
  5. 5. Craft a narrative that stands out. Sell a feeling. Use your emotional intelligence, which AI cannot do. She stressed to tell a story in whatever you are creating.

When I mentioned this topic of AI to others in sharing this experience, I received mixed feelings. A number felt threatened by the negative possibilities, while others saw the potential positive. I choose the latter, with the understanding of the other side of the coin. One thing I do believe is that AI will bring change and many firsts in the future. My plan is to dive into Taryn’s suggestions and pursue AI firsts in order to better understand and learn. Forever Grateful for the ideas, information and the inspiration to learn.
