I was watching a documentary on David Bowie and the above quote from him flashed on the screen … “The worst thing would be to… look back and think of all the things that one could have tried and could have done, and think – why didn’t I do that?” I thought to myself – EXACTLY. This was what my Leap Year of Firsts was all about. It is why I continue to pursue them. It is why I recently and spontaneously said yes when the opportunity to attend the River Cruise expo in Budapest this week presented itself. I had never been to Budapest. I have heard people say it is one of the most beautiful cities in the world. I’ve never experienced the many cruise ships that line the Danube to tour. There are ships from AmaWaterway, Amadeus, Avalon, Riverside, Scenic and Viking to take in.
In the coming days I get to cruise on the Danube for the first time in my life to visit places I never thought I’d experience. Places like Bratislava, the capital of Slovakia. Durnstein and Melk to walk the halls of the 18th century Benedictine Abbey. I end up in Vienna, the capital of Austria. Wow! All firsts!! What are the things that you could try and could do? Why don’t you do it – a first?
