I did my third podcast interview yesterday. I had the pleasure of interviewing a local successful CEO. I LOVE hearing people’s stories. We all have one! I was fortunate to be provided an opportunity for my “first” hour long hosted Podcast interview show a month ago. It is called BCA Radio. BCA stands for “Business Clubs of America,” which is made up of 80 plus non-competing businesses looking to build relationships, before they are needed, in order to assist each other.
I do research on my guest in order to prepare for the interview. I do not be share the questions I will ask, nor do I do a pre-interview, in order to have the hour conversation be spontaneous. The goal is for the members of the podcast to get to know my guest better, both professionally and more importantly, personally in order to build deeper relationships. I ask my guest to take us through their life from when and where they were born, through their school years, to their present position. A kind of “This is Your Life.” I want to know about the family and what they like to do when they are not working. I want to uncover things about them that I and others may not know. I want to hear about the influential people and impactful experiences in their lives that were pivotal to who they are. I look forward to a GREAT conversation with them that will be fun and insightful. I just ask the questions and LISTEN … and Learn! In your next conversation in a social setting ask questions, be curious, and sit back and just listen. You may be surprised as to what you find out.
