Church Without Borders – an AI generated song… a First!

I’ve always been a fan of music – all types of music. I’m fascinated with the craft of songwriting. I have tried off and on to write a few – unsuccessfully. I’ve recently been a part of a number of business discussions on AI (Artificial Intelligence), which inspired this post of my first AI generated song. I had also just listened to an interview of Keith Richards and how he became inspired in writing a number of his songs. It was either some catch phase he heard or saw that was his trigger. So, I set out on one of my old man mornings walks this week on the lookout for something, anything to inspire. I came across a sign in front of a non-denomination Church that I have walked by often. The sign said, “Church Without Border.” With everything going on in the world, with the conflict in the Middle East that was ignited with Hamas’s invasion of Israel – the sign was a sign so to speak. From that point I started taking note of various things I came across during the remainder of my walk. I was present. Once home I opened up ChatGPT and asked it to write a song in a singer-songwriter classic rock style. I plugged in the prompts to use “Church Without Borders” as the title along with the various disconnected words of what I had observed in addition to a few random thoughts that came to mind. I threw these ingredients into the blender of ChatGPT and waited briefly for it to come out of the oven. The following was what was produced, with a few minor edits from me. I then placed these lyrics back into ChatGPT and asked it to “write the music for the lyrics in the same singer-songwriter classic rock style.” Below is my first AI generated song, along with the chords in parenthesis, named “Church Without Borders.” I hope you like …

[Verse 1]            of Church Without Borders

(Am F)   In a world of chaos,

(C G)      A harvest we seek,

(Am F)  A church without borders,

(C G)      Where love’s not so weak,

(Am F)   Skeletons of history,

(C G)      In the cemetery of time,

(Am F)   RIP golden dreams,

(C G)      Buried in the rhyme.

[Chorus]             (Same chords as the first chorus)

(Am F)   In this Church without borders,

(C G)      We’ll take a stand,

(Am F)   Posted, no trespassing,

(C G)      On this sacred land,

(Am F)   From Third Reich to Troubles,

(C G)      Crusades to Middle East,

(Am F)   We’ll find a way to peace,

(C G)      Let our unity increase.

(Verse 2)             (Same chords as first verse)

In Acts of Kindness, we’ll rise above,

The barking dogs of hatred, the cries of the lost,

Help me information, lead us through the night,

Temporary no parking by order of the light.

[Chorus]             (Same chords as the first chorus)

[[Bridge]

(Am F)  All welcome here,

(C G)      We open the door,

(Am F)   To a wonder world,

(C G)      Where hate exists no more,

(Am F)   One more sunrise,

(C G)      One more sunset in grace,

(Am F)   On Branch Street,

(C G)      We’ll find our resting place.

(Verse 3)             (Same chords as first verse)

The promise of a coming day, we hold so dear,

In this Church without borders, where love has no fear,

In the soil of unity, our roots will entwine,

Beneath the red heart on a tree, for all of time.

[Chorus] (Same chords as the first chorus)

[Outro]

(Am F)   In a Church without borders,

(C G)      Here we glow,

(Am F)   A beacon of hope,

(C G)      For all hearts to know,

(Am F)   No more skeletons of hate,

(C G)      Buried in the past,

(Am F)   Together we’ll find peace,

(C G)      Love’s everlasting blast.

You can strum the chords in a simple down-up-down-up pattern for a folk or singer/songwriter feel. Feel free to adjust the chords, tempo, or strumming pattern to suit your playing style and preference.
