Going for a spontaneous SUPER first!

GO E – A – G – L – E – S!

My hometown Philadelphia Eagles won the NFC championship last weekend and are playing in the upcoming Superbowl on February 12th in Glendale Arizona. My cousin lives in Glendale, and I will happen to be in Las Vegas all next week for my industry trade show and national buying group meetings. As I continue to pursue my firsts, it made me think. I could rent a car and drive four hours from Vegas to Arizona after my meetings, with a place to stay.  All I needed would be a ticket to experience a once in a lifetime FIRST.

I have never been to a Super Bowl, let along one that the Eagles were in.  If it wasn’t for my continued quest for “firsts” I am not sure I would have the guts to venture out on my own to spontaneously take a chance. I soon came to find out that tickets were impossible to come by, unless you wanted to spend a king’s ransom ($5k – $10k), which I wasn’t willing to do.  In asking around I was told of a friend who had gone and waited till after kickoff and negotiated a last second cheap seat. Worst case scenario is I do not get a ticket and end up watching the game at a local bar with fellow fans. When will I have a chance for this experience again?

I’m going for it! I moved my flight from Friday to the red eye Monday night from Vegas.  I rented a car. I found out that the PGA Waste Management tournament @ TPC Scottsdale was in town the same weekend. I purchased a general admission ticket for Saturday to walk the course in an Eagles jersey.  And I notified various people I know that are going to be there that I’ll be there Friday night, in case they want to invite me to a party.  I’m rolling the dice for my “first” Super Bowl “experience.”  I really don’t care if I get into the game.  If I happen to negotiate a cheap seat, that would be gravy.  Wish me luck on the SB ticket! It is going to be once-in-a-lifetime experience. A FIRST!
